The purpose of this document, wrote by Mr Tibor Szekfü, director of lead partner FEA, is to examine the microcredit sector in Hungary in order to identify areas where there is potential to improve the social utility of microcredit and to provide specific recommendations for action to help policy-makers achieve positive social goals.

This includes a review of the legal environment and regulation of microcredit, the adequacy of financing and the ability of the operational background to meet professional objectives. In addition, the aim is to formulate recommendations that may improve the social utility of microcredit schemes - and the public funds allocated forthese programmes-to the relevant decision-makers.
