During the months of February and March, AETIB staff was working on the technical and administrative procedures to launch a public tender to subcontract the conceptualisation, design and carrying out of specialised training courses and workshops for tourism professionals to improve the management and competitiveness of tourism SMEs, as defined in AETIB-BRANDTOUR Action Plan for the Balearic Islands region. When the COVID-19 crisis arose and with the declaration of state of alarm by the Spanish Government on the 16th March 2020, the procedures stopped, and the public tender could not be launched.
At this moment, the instructions of the regional Government of the Balearic Islands are that social welfare, sanitary conditions and the recovery of the tourism activity in the Balearic Islands are now a priority, therefore budgets of all units have been moved to palliate these circumstances.
