On the 19th and 20th of November the 6th steering group meeting (7th Partner Meeting) of CLEAN project was due to take place in San Sebastian (Spain) but due to COVID-19 travel restrictions the meeting was held virtually.
On the 19th, CLEAN project partner Fomento San Sebastian organised a series of online study visits that enabled partners to visit some of the good practices of Fomento de San Sebastian. Ainara Amundarain, Iker Martinez and Nora Mendoza from Fomento de San Sebatian presented, Txomin SMART District, Energetic Bioclimatic Building and SmartKalea Project.
Nora Mendoza presented the Txomin SMART District, one of the last major urban developments in San Sebastián. The aim is to become a SMART district reference by utilizing the neighbourhood as a space for experimentation and pilot projects to test its replication potential in other areas of the city or in other cities. The neighbourhood, which possesses around 1070 inhabitants, and with 1500 new homes and 156 consolidated dwellings has become a testbed to deploy several smart-based initiative solutions in the fields of Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Mobility, ICT, Infrastructure and Citizen Participation.
The Enertic Bioclimatic Building was presented by Iker Martinez. It is a nearly zero emissions building, that aims to join forces and stimulate cooperation between the companies and agents of the ICT, Energy Efficiency and Smart sectors of San Sebastian. The aim is to turn the centre into a space of consolidation, growth and creativity in the generation of new employment opportunities that strengthen the local economy and to promote energy efficiency. The building has been designed with energy-conscious parameters, with the aim of reducing its energy demand and relying on renewable sources. So, different measures have been considered like orientation, ventilation, natural lighting, solar heating etc. As well as renewable energy features like geothermal, heat pump to complete heat/cooling demands, wind turbine and bioswalle to reuse rainwater, etc.
Ainara Amundarain CLEAN project partner presented the SmartKalea Project, a successful public-private partnership for improving urban quality of life with an innovative smart and sustainable approach. SmartKalea promotes environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, citizen participation using state-of-the-art technology from local partners, integrating data into the project's smart platform for monitoring and obtaining indicators that promote the improvement of the management of the city. The main solutions offered are consumption monitoring for homes and businesses through smart meters and smart platforms, energy saving measures advisory, ICT and digital tool for commerces etc.
On the 20th of November, the meeting brought project all partners together for the 7th time to discuss project activities and progress.
