The 2020 have been very challenging year for all of us. But this does not stop CLEAN project partners to continue working on improve energy efficiency in housing and public infrastructure to achieve the goal to increase energy efficiency by %4 in our partners regions.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic most of the events got cancelled, delayed, or become smaller virtual events. So, during last autumn Region Västernorrland (Sweden) have organised several small events to present their Regional Action Plan. Due to the restrictions they could not arrange events with a lot of people present at the same time, so the Swedish partner decided to hold two small online events, with another in their office with local politicians present.
Moreover, Interreg Europe’s the Policy Learning Platform hosted an interactive webinar on how to improve energy efficiency and performance in social housing and Florian Guillotte from SCIC Les 7 Vents (France) presented the good practice Positive Energy Families challenge. This CLEAN project good practice takes the form of a competition that encourages teams of families to save energy through everyday actions.
Also, the region of North Karelia (Finland) obtained HINKU region status (Carbon Neutral Region), after successfully fullfilling and completing all criteria from the Finnish Enviroment Institute. To obtain HINKU status, regions and communities must jointly commit to reducing the greenhouse gas emission levels of 2007 by 80 per cent, by the year 2030 and to take this commitment into account in all major decisions.
This 2020, all our partners published their Regional Action Plans. During the Regional Action Plan development, representatives from Interreg Europe highlighted that partners were eligible for additional funding that would aid the implementation of one of their region’s Pilot Actions. Therefore, ERNACT, chose the Open Data Energy action, Fomento San Sebastian their SMART Public Lighting action and SCIC Les 7 Vents their Normandy 50/50 action for these additional funds.
