Interreg Europe funded CLEAN project partners celebrated the 1st Interregional Seminar focused on facilitating the exchange of experience and knowledge transfer on measures addressing the energy efficiency in the context of Covid-19 on January 25.

This week will focus on CLEAN project partner Fomento de San Sebastian (Spain). Iker Martinez from Fomento San Sebastian (Spain) showed on the one hand, the impact of Covid-19 in energy consumption in the Basque Country and San Sebastian, and on the other hand, policy instruments and measures that are taking place in the Basque Country and San Sebastian through the “Klima 2050” in the context of COVID-19 with specific objectives in energy efficiency in buildings:

  • Energy Strategy 2030 in the Basque Country: L3. Reduction of energy consumption and increase of renewable installations in buildings
  • Energy Efficiency Directive in Buildings - San Sebastian (2021): promote energy efficiency, insulation and renewable installations in building.

Ongoing projects to improve energy efficiency in buildings and change citizens behaviour are in place through the SmartHomes Project.

In addition, Iker Martinez gave an overview of the Smart Txomin Good Practice and SMARTKALEA.

Fomento de San Sebastián is leading a transformation in the Txomin Enea neighbourhood into a Smart district based on the REPLICATE project that enhance the transition to a nearly zero district in Donostia/San Sebastian deploying smart solutions in Energy, Mobility and ICT/Infrastructures efficiency areas, an integral and transversal way through projects and actions focused in the fields of sustainability, energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, infrastructures and communications, transparency and citizen participation.

SmartKalea promotes environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, citizen participation and transparency using state-of- the-art technology from local technological partners, integrating data into the project's smart platform for monitoring and obtaining indicators. Smart implementations to test and validate for its expansion to other geographical areas. The main solutions offered are: consumption monitoring for homes and businesses through smart meters and smart platforms, energy saving measures advisory, ICT and digital tool for commerces, public smart lighting system, smart solar charger, smart solutions ideas call, pedestrian counting systems, smart platform.
