On the 18th of May CLEAN project partners celebrated the second seminar of the CLEAN Additional Activities on "Regional measures & highlights to cut emissions and to improve energy efficiency of public buildings" from the city of Joensuu in North Karelia (Finland) and streamed online to all project partners and their stakeholders regardless of their presence in North Karelia.
Aura Liski from Regional Council of North Karelia, welcomed participants to the seminar and presented the agenda. Followed by our lead partner Daniela Copaci from the ERNACT network where she gave a short overview of CLEAN project, showing a short animation about the project.
The first 2 speakers from North Karelia, Eetu Ahlberg, project coordinator of the ‘Efficiently towards low-carbon municipalities’ project at Regional Council of North Karelia and Anssi Kokkonen, Energy Advisor from Karelia University of Applied Science shared practical examples of working with municipalities towards carbon neutral in North Karelia.
After that, CLEAN project partners took the floor and Sofia Mackin and Oskar Lindberg from Region Västernorrland (Sweden) shared the measures taken to reduce emissions within their region. Also, Elena Farca from Iasi Municipality talked about Iasi's European Energy Award, Iași became Romania's first municipality to be awarded by increasing energy efficiency in local transportation, centralised heating and local household services.
Nathalie Lemarchand from ARPE Normandie (France) played a short animation of a local network of self-rehabilitation supervisors and Sabrine Boudjemline from Les 7 Vents talked about the Normandy Chèque éco, to encourage individuals, owners of individual houses, to carry out energy efficiency work compatible with achieving the "Low Consumption Building" level.
With Dr. Dimitrios Katsaprakakis, Professor of Mechanical Engineering faculty in Hellenic Mediterranean University in Region of Crete (Greece), CLEAN project seminar participants had the opportunity to know more about MINOAN ENERGY COMMUNITY and how an energy community can contribute to energy stability at local level.
Iker Martinez from Fomento de San Sebastian and Yann Bussard from Dinycon Sistemas presented the SmartHomes project. Fomento de San Sebastian has deployed SmartHomes project with a non-intrusive monitoring system for the building and the housing units at a municipal residential complex.
Nadja Bezenšek and Anita Jodl from the Regional Agency Savinjska Region (Slovenia) shared the work done in improving energy efficiency of public buildings in Savinjska region. Followed by Nicola Barbato from ANEA Napoli (Italy) and Med-EcoSuRe project manager who talked about software and innovative tools for energy efficiency of buildings.
At the end of the CLEAN seminar, lead partner ERNACT Programme Manager Daniela Copaci, gave an overview of Inishowen Sustainable Energy Community. The Energy Community function is to explore and support the implementation of best practice solutions focused on sustainability.
