The 1st RSG meeting took place in Blokhuispoort Leeuwarden, a former prison located in the centre of Leeuwarden on 23rd of January, 2019. Nowadays, it represents a cultural centre of the city. Regional stakeholders were represented by four organisations: the University of Groningen; Investment and Development Company for the Northern Netherlands (NOM); a cultural entrepreneur experienced working with several projects for Leeuwarden-Fryslân Cultural Capital (LF2018) and on behalf of the province supporting many (international) fundraising processes; and a Social Design Lab (It Erfskip) which develops products in co-creation with Frisian crafts and landscape. It Erfskip supports and connects people who together make a beautiful product that can be sold as a souvenir for LF2018, with an ambition to become the design label for souvenirs in Fryslân. Participants aimed at realization of projects that the region is proud of. For this, to strengthen the network of all stakeholders is important. What is expected from stakeholders: inspiration, input of networks, ideas for new projects, reflection on foreign good practices and direction towards policy, knowledge about how to use the existing landscape, research to be done on leadership, sustainability, energy cooperatives, e.g. potential questions for master thesis.
