[NEWS] ERDF project supports e-mobility in Kainuu

Thanks to the Kahina project, you can borrow an electric car charging station, for promoting energy efficiency and carbon neutrality in Kainuu and Koillismaa.

The Kahina project (A75833) started lending electric car charging stations to entrepreneurs in Kainuu and Koillismaa. Borrowing a charging station is a small part of the Kahina project, which focuses on promoting energy efficiency and carbon neutrality in Kainuu and the Northeast until August 2022. Kahina is an ERDF project. It brings together seven Kainuu municipalities: Kajaani, Kuusamo, Paltamo, Puolanga, Suomussalmi, Taivalkoski and Vaala.

The Arctic Giant [accommodation service] took a whole new step in electrification on 1.12.2020. Vesa Homanen from the Arctic Giant rented a 11kW charging station for December. Power is sufficient to charge any electric car overnight, regardless of brand or type.

Tuomas Niskanen, a project researcher at the Kahina project, praises the ease of installation of the charging station. The charging station, instructions and other work necessities were pre-attached to water plywood, which was screwed to the wall of the small house with six screws. Thus, the charging station was very easy to install with a power plug, in other words, one only needs to find a 16A power socket to make it work. In Arctic Giant, the actual installation took a few minutes.

Vesa Homanen from the Arctic Giant was delighted to experience how the charging station serves customers and what this means to the property's electrical centre.

Tuomas also said that the price of the charging station in the experiment is also really attractive. The VAT-free price of the device is about 500 euros. The device also withstands severe frosts and contains the necessary intelligence, which ensures safe charging.
