Lombardy: incentives continue for the purchase of electric vehicles

Lombardy regional institutions extend and imrpove incentives for e-vehicles.

Monday, March 1 marked the start of the Lombardy Region's call for applications for contributions to the purchase of zero or very low emission vehicles. The measure promoted by the Region also includes a specific allocation for 2021 of 18 million euros dedicated only to electric vehicles in the category (mopeds, scooters, motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles).

Although the health emergency has ruled the length and breadth of Italy, especially in Lombardy, 2020 closed with a positive increase in the electric mobility sector. For the first time, mopeds, scooters and motorcycles exceeded 10 thousand registered vehicles, marking a convincing +84.5%. This is the most significant growth in 2020 in percentage terms, with the scooter market registering + 268.8%, motorcycles + 125.7% and mopeds closing the year at + 8.3%. Positive also the numbers of quadricycles that reach a +10.5% on 2019.

A trend that, according to Confindustria, is destined to grow due to the importance of the role that two-wheelers play in the future of mobility, especially in urban areas. In particular, this positive trend can be seen in Milan where (thanks also to the push of sharing mobility and government incentives), electric vehicles have recorded significant growth over 2019. The Lombardy Region announcement is for individuals (no companies) residing in Lombardy and will remain open until December 31 unless the fund is exhausted. The incentives cover 30% of the purchase price excluding VAT.

A path promoted by the Lombardy Region that has been going on for several years now, and that certifies a green idea devoted to sustainability. The regional institutions promise that activities in favour of electric mobility will continue in the years to come.
