During the first cross-visit in Catalonia, ECOWASTE4FOOD partners and stakeholders have visited the Weigh and Think project (Pesa i Pensa), led by Campos Estela at the Torre de la Llebre School in Rubí, closed to Barcelona. This video shows involvement of pupils to reduce food waste through daily weighing of food served in the canteen. According to the Waste Agency of Catalonia, 35 kg of food are wasted per person per year in Catalonia, which corresponds to an economic loss of 842 M€. In that respect education at school is crucial to think about avoidable food waste.
