Brief description of the action
“LSN Innovate!” – is an education program for regional innovation experts and regional innovation actors from the whole value chain. The aim is to provide a deeper understanding of how to manage risks in innovative life science projects and thus to motivate more players from the ecosystem to engage in endeavours such as startups or R&D-projects.
Progress on the implementation of the action plan
LSN has developed a concept and work plan for the implementation of a working group that deals with questions of risk management in the context of innovation projects. The content, speakers and appointments were all ready. In addition, the actors of the innovation ecosystem should be relieved of the fear of failure in two "fuck-up nothing". Working group results and presentations will be made generally available via a digital working platform ("LSNXChange") and media library.
Main change perfomed by the action plan implementation
As a cluster organization, LSN will be more proactive and encourage actors to take on development risks by conveying strategies for managing associated risks. This should result in additional innovation projects in the region and a change of the mindset towards embracing risks.
How COVID-19 crisis influenced your action plan implementation?
Personal contact and the opportunity for direct exchange are indispensable for the trusting cooperation and the exchange of experiences, especially during the implementation phase of a new working group. After the concept and work plan had been drawn up, work with the players in the innovation ecosystem could not start as planned, as the government measures to contain the pandemic initially made face-to-face meetings impossible. Despite the relaxation in the meantime, face-to-face meetings were not possible over the summer months either because the company instructions forbade this and the target group was busy dealing with the consequences of the pandemic. The situation is currently worsening again dramatically in Germany and our region, so that Plan B, namely to start with online events in November, will probably not be implemented.
