The final conference of ELISE with tagline: Innovation ecosystem – the key tool for the regional development in the 21st. century was held online on 9.9.2021. More than 70 people from all over Europe attended the final event of ELISE project. The agenda covered topics such as: 

  • Life Sciences as key sector for innovation within the EU
  • Capacity building towards higher innovation performance
  • How can policymakers support open innovation and co-creation as key concepts for innovation development?
  • Targeted support of the networking by the regional policymakers

The official programme was opened by  Jurgita Šiugždinienė - secretary of Education, Science and Sports of Lithuania.

Two keynote speakers presented their work on innovation ecosystems namely Gabriel Rissola (DG Joint Research Centre) - Place-based innovation ecosystems: why context matters and Astrid Hintze (Helmut Schmidt Universität) - Regional Development as driver of Innovation. Both of the presentations directly fed to the main topic of the ELISE - innovation ecosystems, which became key drivers of the innovation performance in the regions.

Keynote presentations were followed by the panel discussion, where main findings of each porter were presented and followed by discussion about key obstacles and problems of innovation ecosystems.
