On 12 of SEPTEMBER 2019, The Research & Development Institute for Plant Protection organized a workshop (round table) on invasive species where Bucharest Ilfov Regional Development Agency was invited.
In the Invalis project context, exploring also dissemination opportunities for the project and also building collaboration for Invalis outcomes, we took the invitation as an opportunity to communicate and disseminate the objective of the project and we introduced in the agenda a presentation of INVALIS.
The main discussion about our project were structured in such a way as to underline both the objective of the INTERREG program and the project itself.
The main debated subjects according to the agenda of the event were :
- invasive species - myth or reality? Is this an EU preoccupation? What about Romania?
- early detection and monitoring of invasive alien species of insects in Romania
- invasive weeds in agricultural crops in southern Romania
- european interregional initiatives – Invalis – Protecting European Biodiversity from Invasive Alien Species – objective, activities, outcomes
- Preliminary results regarding the changes in the background of climate change, in the biology and combating of the phytosanitary quarantine pest Quadraspidiotus perniciosus
- discussion session: Current situation and future perspectives on the barriers related to cooperation between public authorities directly interested in addressing the challenges associated with invasive alien species in the Bucharest-Ilfov .
The event gathered around 23 participants from public bodies, research institutes and universities.
The discussions were very productive and everyone was surprised and pleasantly impressed by the theme of the project.
From the participants’ feedback we can appreciate that our presentation was useful, dynamic, had provided new ideas, was organized and carried out efficiently.
