Timisoara Public Transport Company and Timisoara City Hall launched the free rental system for 25 e-scooters. Starting April 1st, STPT cardholders can rent free of charge the e-scooters from three stations: Politehnica University's canteen, University of the West and Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology. The e-scooter can be used for 30 minutes from the moment you pick it up. To benefit from this new service, users must have a STPT card and the TroTM app installed on their phones.

"We are launching the seventh subsystem of Timisoara's public transport system. We have trams, trolleybuses, buses, minibuses, bikes, vans, and, as of today, e-scooters. This system is called TrotTM and includes 25 e-scooters and three rental stations, for starters. We thought it best to start with the operation of such a system in the student area, and we have a station here in the middle of the Students' Campus, the second at the University of the West, and the third at the Politehnica University. There are 25 e-scooters in the system for now, but we want to buy 100 more this year," mayor Nicolae Robu said.

It would decongest traffic from the central area and the Students’ Campus because they will be used mainly by students living in the dorms and using cars for transportation to and from university.
