To promote sustainable urban mobility To increase public and stakeholder awareness of electromobility
The objective of Ele.C.Tra project (Electric City Transport) is the promotion of a new urban mobility model with common characteristics among the partner cities so that it can be easily implemented in other cities and regions. The project includes 3 pilot actions with 90 electric scooters and full model set up (signs, parking system, users services, etc). Additionally, one of the main outputs of the project was the creation of a GIS web platform which provides data for all pilot and non pilot cities of the project. Through this platform the end-users will have access to the facility map and its services (pickup and delivery points of e scooters, parkings, and recharge stations). Within the project an e-vehicle exhibition took place in the municipality of Rafina in order to introduce to the citizens and public/private bodies and institutions the electric vehicles, scooters and bicycles and promote the idea of electromobility in Greece. The participants could also drive these type of vehicles in order to have a real experience and get familiar with the new technology which will influence the urban and touristic transportation in the future.

Resources needed

1.266.186 (Project Budget)
11 project partners (for the whole projects) and 3 national partners for the exhibition of electric scooters in the port of Rafina

Evidence of success

1. More than 1.200 visitors attended the exhibition from different municipalities
2. Many visitors did test drives to get more familiar with the electric vehicles
3. There were dozens of electric cars of different types and categories

Difficulties encountered

1. Bring together all relevant stakeholders from the industry, the private sector, the municipalities, regional authorities, ministries, etc.
2. Make the exhibition attractive for the public to attend
3. Big variety of electric vehicles to be tested

Potential for learning or transfer

Ease of implementation: easy
Impact: High
Benefit Cost Ratio: very high
Transferring this good practice means contacting and bring together all relevant stakeholders (car manufacturers/car dealerships, industry specialized in charging stations and charging facilities, municipalities, ministries, etc) to exhibit their products, exchange their ideas and create new opportunities for cooperation. Additionally, such an exhibition requires efficient advertising of the event so that people will be interested and encouraged to attend it.
