By the foothills of Mont Blanc, in Chamonix, Nicolas Picou and Rogelio Bonilla from AURA-EE hosted SHREC’s stand at the “Climate, Risks and Energies Conference” held within the framework of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region. Against all odds in this particular health context, over 80 participants gathered at the Grand Majestic Hotel and nearly 50 more joined us online. Not only was this a great opportunity to exchange in person for the first time in months, but also to showcase our project and our partnership with the project ALPGRIDS who also hosted a stand by Noémie Poize. AURA-EE is Lead Partner of ALPGRIDS, an Interreg Alpine Space project “Creating a transnational enabling environment to foster microgrid solutions”. This event was an opportunity for these two projects to exchange on the possibilities to shift towards and increase the uptake of renewable energies. Some learning opportunities that SHREC project partners can benefit from what ALPGRIDS are doing are the creation of local energy communities as a mean to upscale the use of renewable energies at a local level. In turn, SHREC can provide some learning opportunities to ALPGRIDS in the models to involve local communities, public actors and consumers in the production and consumption of renewable energy.

SHREC’s stand was eagerly approached by the conference’s participants; some local stakeholders are keen in promoting some state-of-the-art biomass boilers by the means of citizen investment.

Further synergies will be organized by both projects in order to enrich our knowledge. For example, Noémie Poize from AURA-EE and ALPGRIDS’s project partner will participate at Piemonte’s SHREC Stakeholder Meeting to discuss about Energy Communities. If you are interested to learn more about Energy Communities, stay put for more information to come.
