Groningen Seaports is building the first and biggest solar dike in the world in the Northern Netherlands.
Solar panels will be installed over a length of 5 kilometres on top of the sea dike. It concerns 17,000 panels in total, which together generate almost 7 million kWh of electricity per year. That is good for more than 2,300 households. It should be ready in next August.
