ACR+, one of the SMART WASTE project partners, has submitted a feedback to the European Commission for the public consultation on how to best set in place Food Waste Reduction targets across the Union.

ACR+'s stand is for a quantitative methodology assessing food waste generation at each stage of the food supply chain, and for a setting of target percentages based on the current waste processing capacity of the single member states. Through this approach it will be easier to identify hotspots and waste generator actors for whom investment in capacity to reduce food waste is most needed.

The full feedback provided to the consultation is available here, where you can also find the proposition options advanced by the Commission.
