The European Commission published guidance on "Shipments of waste in the EU in the context of the Coronavirus crisis" in which it targets waste shipments routes and aims to ensure a common approach to securing the continuation of waste shipments across the EU while maintaining a high level of public health and the environment protection.
In this document, the Commission asks that "all Member States fully implement to waste shipments the recommendations on ensuring that all freight gets quickly to its destination without any delays and in particular to ensure that waste shipments have access to the ‘green lane’ border crossings" (p. 2).
