Thanks to LCA4Regions project and due to the learned lessons from project partners, CIMBAL draw – and approved - its action plan. It includes two specific actions, one of them regarding the Integration of Life Cycle Analysis criteria in specific procurement procedures, including a life cycle calculator.
Based on two specific good practices, namely one regarding the integration of Life Cycle Analysis criteria in specific procedures and inclusion of life cycle calculator from Spain and on active support of the contracting authority by the Public Procurement Office through LCC calculators form Poland, CIMBAL decided to Integrate life cycle criteria in CIMBAL central purchasing procurement procedures.
Some of the steps of this plan were:
- Definition of specific product groups and analysis of the criteria to be defined;
- Integration of criteria in CIMBAL central purchasing procedures;
- Development/adoption of a Life cycle calculator;
- Implementation of communication actions.
This action brought added value to CIMBAL´s procurement procedures and to overall sustainability of Baixo Alentejo region.
