The Romanian Biomass and Biogas Association - ARBIO announced the launch of a modal shift platform, created by the Energy Barge project consortium. It represents a database of 530 companies from biomass and bioenergy sector, 66 Danube ports and over 50 shipping companies and ship brokers. From the total number of participants, 31 of the companies are Romanian, while other countries have an important presence on this platform: Bulgaria has 81 registered firms, Germany - 140, Hungary - 23, Slovakia - 37, Croatia - 80 and Austria - 129. In addition, 40 clusters and research institutions are listed. The aim is to simplify the identification of suitable business partners through specific viewing and search functions.
The modal transfer platform provides an intuitive and easily navigable overview of the transnational biomass and bioenergy market, as well as practical consulting and business contacts for green energy logistics along the Danube, combining the companies’ atlas with the management options. ARBIO announces that the user interface will include a section of good practices that will allow understanding the factors that influence the performance of actors in the field of bioenergy that use inland waterway transport. The platform aims to allow an environmentally better connected, user friendly and interoperable transport system for bioenergetic products in the area. Access to the logistics portfolio is becoming easier by improving the transport availability of various biomass products.
The market players’ database allows for growth and development through the option of registering new companies, therefore ensuring a growing transnational character. The actors present on the platform have the opportunity to connect with other key players in the Danube logistics field and other stakeholders in the bioenergy and biomass industry to promote collaboration and establish new business contacts for participation in an active growth of the green energy sector.
