Abruzzo Region is hosting the touring photo exhibition named «Fishing Communities’ Heritage» - organised within the CHERISH Project, funded by the INTERREG EUROPE 2014-2020 Programme.
Abruzzo Region representatives and CHERISH stakeholders officially opened the exhibition at the FLAG COSTA DI PESCARA offices on the 29th of July 2022. It is no coincidence that the exhibition in Pescara has been set up in a location situated in “Borgo Marino”, the ancient neighbourhood of fishermen, and inaugurated precisely in the days when local people celebrate the feast of St. Andrew, patron of fishermen, representing an important element of the intangible cultural heritage of local fishing community.
The exhibition is really an itinerary through images to discover gestures, activities, landscapes, traditions and the heritage of the local fishing community, as well as to learn and confirm the extraordinary "contemporaneity" and the "common characters" in Europe of the job and rituals of the "People of the Sea", whose traditions and history risk disappearing.
In Abruzzo, 32 pictures are composing the exhibition as, in addition to the 28 photos already included in the CHERISH exhibition and representing all the project partners countries, also the other four regional winning photos for Abruzzo are exhibited.
The exhibition can be visited in Pescara from the 29th of July to the 7th of August 2022. Then, the photos will be exhibited in Francavilla (Chieti) and Giulianova (Teramo) during the months of August and September.
