Priorities for the West Midlands Area are linked to the new carbon economy. The need to decarbonise road transport requires a range of actions, one of which is the investment in cycling and walking, together with a shift to ultra-low emission vehicles which, whilst maintaining mobility, will stimulate green jobs and investment. Therefore, cycling is going to be the focus of the West Midlands for e-smartec.
A few days ago, some important news came out about the Department for Transport awarding Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and its partner councils a £3.85 million grant to implement measures like cycle lanes, wider pavements and many others to encourage more cycling and walking across the Region.
