In the presence of representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament and experts on energy efficiency in the public sector, the final conference of the Publeneff project had an exceptional reception at the Palais des Academies in Brussels (Belgium). Key speakers from the EU as Radoš Horacek (Energy Efficiency Unit of the European Commission DG Energy), Miroslav Poche (European Parliament) and Vincent Berrutto (EASME) presented the details and news of the European Energy Efficiency Directive and the policies that support this directive coming soon.
Christiane Egger (OÖ Energiesparverband deputy Director, Upper Austria) participated in this event explaining the achievements of the region while Francisco Puente (Development Director in Escan Energy consultants) participated in panel of Experts on “Challenges, opportunities and support needed to achieve the European energy efficiency targets”, moderated by Vlasis Oikonomou, from the Joint Implementation Network and coordinator of PUBLENEF.
During this Panel, Francisco Puente was invited to present the EMPOWER project objectives and results, which aims to share experiences on low cost energy monitoring systems for public buildings. The relevance of these systems is that it was detected that the lack of knowledge of the energy consumption (in greater detail than the information from the invoice) is necessary to favour investments in energy efficiency and the creation of interest from energy services suppliers (as ESCOs).
The EMPOWER project (Interreg Europe) will be running for the period 2017-2022, being the city Council of Santander the Partner Spanish.
