"The Policy Learning Platform organised a webinar on 29 April 2020, on the topic of open data for smarter cities. Measuring energy and transport data allows us the design of better measures. Several Interreg Europe projects have put forward inspiring examples on data collection for better management, both in the area of energy and mobility. Sergio Gatteschi presented, for Empower Project, the Smart City Control Room of Firenze, that is one of the Good practices presented in the Interreg Platform.

The approach taken by Florence – to define the Florence Digital Renaissance Manifesto with the Tuscany region, and managers of public services –was presented as a good model.

The New Florence Smart City Control Room will improve the existing Traffic Control Room bringing together in a single place the monitoring functions of the city area. The SCCR will bring together the main (public) services deployed in the city thank to the utilities and private operators (as for the road maintenance through global service) under the coordination of the Municipality of Florence that will make use of Silfi to manage the system: thanks to thematic dashboards shared in a common platform it will be possible to monitor traffic system (including ZTL, parking, bus, tramway and public transport ), water and electricity, energy efficiency, public lighting, traffic light  system, waste bins.
