The Ministry of Environmental and Spatial Planning (Regional Government of Andalusia) with headquarter in Seville has held the first stakeholder meeting concerning the Interreg European Project 'ENHANCE', which aims to improve Regional Government policy tools implementation to encourage organizations to adopt EMAS. This is thought to be accomplished by means of experiences and good practice procedures exchange related to EMAS among the five participating countries. As the competent body in EMAS registration in Andalusia, the General Directorate of Environmental Prevention and Quality represents the Regional Government and plays the role of coordinating its participation as a partner.

Among the agenda items to carry out within the ENHANCE project we have just completed the stakeholders identification phase in order to create the Consultation Groups in every participating region. These groups establish a cooperative framework and are thought to be a key means not only to recognise and exchange good practice procedures but also to validate the Regional Action Plans to be implemented.

Stepping ahead of the previous agenda item, we have contacted ground-breaking organizations running under EMAS in Andalusia, and other ones interested in or ready to do so, with the aim of inviting them to join us for the only purpose of sharing and discussing EMAS promoting tools. Andalusian stakeholders are: Servicio Andaluz de Empleo (S.A.S.), Cruz Roja Española Hospital Victoria Eugenia, Asociación de Hoteles de Sevilla y Provincia (Hotel Ayre), Bureau Veritas, AENOR, Asociación Andaluza de Desguaces, ECOEMBES, LIPASAM, LIMASA, EMASESA, Fundación Andanatura, CEPSA, INERCO and Autoridad Portuaria de Sevilla.

In this first meeting, the main work carried out was? and the planning of the following planned activities was presented, as well as being a facilitator for contact between interested parties, fostering the Andalusian business fabric.
