Mehedinti County Council team met in an in-house meeting last 14th December to address the Mehedinty County Action Plan activities and to update the colleagues from Mehedinti County Council about the last period events within MOMAr project.
In that sense, the management team presented the action plan developed under the policy instrument and two action plans that are to be included in the new Mehedinti County Development Strategy 2021-2027. This was accompanied by many informal talks and expert interviews in the territory. In addition, models of management learnt during the cooperation so far were analyzed and slated to be applied to undermanaged heritage areas that are under the scope of action. The questions generated during these discussions centered on which practices caught our attention and which changes are currently being assessed in the territory with the end goal of measuring the potential impact of MOMAr at local levels.
An example that would be very interesting and necessary to be adapted locally is The Centre of Conservation and Restauration of Corsican Heritage from Calvi. This centre was created to assist logistically, scientifically, and administratively the municipalities all over the island of Corsica, especially smaller rural ones that had owned religious structures full of endangered works of art. This example is germane to Mehedinty County’s future plans of transforming the building from Ogradena la Mala, Eselnita Commune into a centre of heritage conservation and research and for transforming the neoclassical Gheorghe Pleșa Palace from Obîrșia de Câmp into a cultural events hub. The first step undertaken by Mehedinti County Council, in this case, was the procedure of emergency situation intervention to the roof’s monument in order to stop the severe degradation process of the building.
