After no MOMAr tour could be organized in Saxony-Anhalt due to the Corona restrictions last autumn and winter, the first Momar tour of Saxony-Anhalt finally took place on May 19, 2022. The destination of the Momar tour was the Schernebeck village church in the Altmark region. This church is the focus of the Action Plan of Saxony-Anhalt.
Four stakeholders, TRANSROMANICA e.V., Saxony-Anhalt Tourism Association, State Chancellery, and Ministry of Culture and Saxony-Anhalt Investment and Marketing Corporation joined Saxony-Anhalt for a visit to Schrenebeck. There, a joint meeting took place with the members of the Förderkreis Schernebecker Kirche e.V., the local mayor of Schernebeck, the local pastor, a representative of the Harz University and the mayor of the unified municipality of the city of Tangerhütte.
The project: Construction of a Bakehouse for the Schernebeck village church
The visit included a panel discussion about the project 'Construction of a Bakehouse for the Schernebeck village church', a tour of the church tower, and a visit to the old church cellar. This church cellar is where the bakehouse of the Schernebeck village church is planned to be built.
During the panel discussion, experiences of management and marketing of cultural heritage in rural areas were exchanged, along with the Förderkreis Schernebecker Kirche e.V. and the other stakeholders. Also, in the context of the bakehouse project, it was discussed which marketing approaches would be useful to promote the bakehouse. For example, stakeholders discussed ideas such as launching a website for the church and the church bakery, placing informational signs on nearby bike paths and cultural routes, and organizing seasonal events such as "Christmas baking at Schernebeck village church." In addition, the pastor suggested that the bakehouse could become a part of confirmation lessons in the future.
At the end of the Momar tour to Schernebeck, all stakeholders expressed their interest that a second Momar tour should be organized in June 2022.
