The exchange that occurred within the study visits of MOMAr has helped to bring into existence a new collaboration within the project called 'Digitour'. It is financed by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of the European Commission, within the framework of the COSME Cos-Tourinn-2020-3-04 program, and aims to boost the tourism sector by uniting companies from this sector with providers of innovative and digital solutions using territorial and cultural heritage for tourism purposes.
Territorio Mudéjar, the network of municipalities promoted by the Provincial Government of Zaragoza (DPZ) to preserve and disseminate the Mudejar art of the province and a Spanish stakeholder in MOMAr, will participate together with 12 partner countries, that will launch 19 collaborative projects in which tourism SMEs and digital providers will collaborate. This will mean improving the tourism skills and capacities in the cultural field of SME companies through training and advice.
Digitour will also provide a quality label to recognize the establishments prepared to serve tourism of individuals and professionals who travel to investigate, learn about, or develop projects related to heritage to later apply it to their studies. In addition, it will promote innovative ideas for SMEs to improve their offer and the management, marketing, and promotion of their services in a new and sustainable way.
The pilot project will begin its work in Spain and Romania, involving two well-known areas for MOMAr, the village of Daroca in the Zaragoza province, and the town of Elsenita in Mehedinti County. This way the first work will include the redesign of the brand of the Posada del Almudí, a historic building with an interesting rehabilitation in the centre of Daroca, and of the Pensiunea Septiembrie, accommodation in the town of Elsenita, recently built integrated into the landscape of the Danube Gorges, in the surroundings of the Iron Gates Natural Park, geopark declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and whose associated heritage offers a high cultural value as well as a very interesting ethnographic development.
