The second stakeholder meeting of MOMAr partner Mehedinti County Council (Rumania) took place in their headquarters. The meeting aimed to update the stakeholder group with the last period events within the project and to discuss the past interregional meeting and the upcoming one next semester in Groningen. Besides, to collect more details from each stakeholder about the templates Management Model for Organizations that leverage the heritage, cultural and natural resources that they filled in previously.
Interregional meetings, learning from partners
The project coordinator from Mehedinti County Council started updating the group with the last period events within the project and with the details of the next exchange of experience activity.
It was presented the approach of Corsican partner on cultural heritage, especially their good practices such as the augmented reality implemented in the Citadel of Corte and the model of The Centre of Conservation and Restoration of Corsican Heritage from Calvi. This center was created to bring a logistic, scientific and administrative help to municipalities all over the island of Corsica, especially smaller rural ones that had owned religious structures full of endangered works of art. Both practices could be useful for the Iron Gates Regional museum, which manages a very large and diverse heritage in Mehedinti County.
In the upcoming third semester, Province of Groningen, (Netherlands) will organize the second Interregional Event of Exchange of Experiences, focused on the theme: "Heritage, further than tourism: Models of Management overcoming touristic exploitation". In this meeting, partners will exchange three good and one failed practices related to the topic. During this exchange, all partners will identify and systematize practices to be shared during this activity. Taking this into account, many ideas and traditions from the local region of Mehedinti were discussed and analyzed by the local stakeholders. The topic of the discussion was the decision to focus on a sustainable future for heritage in rural areas. Considering that most of their heritage does not suffer from mass tourism and hence this exchange of experience will concentrate on certain questions, that need to be answered previously by local stakeholders.
Identification of good practices
Good practices learnt during the first semester of MOMAr where also point of discussion. There was a debate on how to creatively conceptualize and incorporate some of these changes that they could bring to their local policies to improve the local heritage management system and increase their performances towards higher sustainability. The questions generated during this debate centered on which practices from the first semester caught their attention and which changes are currently being assessed in the territory with an end goal of measuring the potential impact of MOMAr at a local level.
Next steps, identify models of management in force for Heritage
As all MOMAr’s partners, Mehedinti County is working on analysing models of management in force for heritage in the territory together with its stakeholders. During the meeting, the discussion moved to the forthcoming reports and the gathering of more details from each stakeholder about the templates Management Model for Organizations that leverage the heritage, cultural and natural resources that they filled in previously. They discussed several questions regarding the strategy in place for the local stakeholders such as how to decide which heritage goods to include in the activities, which ones need to be emphasized and preserved or based on which data and research are activities generated and implemented in the region.
