Murcia is preparing a training and mentoring programme for companies inspired by the European SCALE UP project, aimed at the scaling up of businesses
The Instituto de Fomento of the region of Murcia (INFO Murcia) continues its participation in the European SCALEUP project as they proceed with the preparation phase of their Action Plan.
In order to reach a consensus on the most interesting good practices and after continuous discussions with the regional action group of the Murcia SCALE UP project, two sessions were held presenting the best practices with the greatest potential. The outcome was unanimous. The project is currently in a phase of detailed information exchange with the project partner exporting the UpScaler good practice, the Nottingham City Council and Nottingham Trent University (NTU).
The good practice is developed from an operational point of view by regional partner Nottingham Trent University (NTU), together with the East Midlands Chamber (EMC). Other partners collaborating regionally include the D2N2 Growth Hub, local authorities and the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership. D2N2 includes Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
In the coming months, a detailed definition of the contents of the training and mentoring programme will be carried out, as well as an integration of the initiative in the regional strategic documents of Instituto de Fomento de la Región de Murcia, with the aim of consolidating over time the initiative to promote the scaling up of companies in the region.
The aim of promoting the scaling up of companies is to increase innovation in the region's business and industrial fabric, thus improving the productivity and dynamism of the Murcian economy and facilitating the development of professionals with applied scientific and innovative talent.
The SCALE UP Regional Action Group in the Region of Murcia, which advises the Instituto de Fomento on the project, is made up of CROEM, COEC, the Network of Local Development Agents, the University of Murcia, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, CEEIM and CEEIC.
The above decision is a result of the information shared by the project partners on their good practices both from the point of view of content and of organisation. Partners have also exchanged information, experiences and opinions of the regional stakeholder partners participating in SCALE UP, which has been very enriching. Learning about how different partners interact produces a very beneficial impact for society and companies.
During the experience-sharing phase, it was possible to analyse different good practices, with different profiles. Some practices have a more technological, more financial, more innovative profile, or training and talent development programmes.
To learn about good practices, the virtual study visits proved to be a success. Some of these sessions reached 60 participants, a success considering that the sessions tended to be rather technical and practical and were reserved for project partners and members of their regional action groups. INFO, after learning about the good practices presented by the partners, carried out an analysis with a previous filtering of those that could have a better fit taking into account those initiatives that are already being carried out in the region of Murcia, and the needs of the regional ecosystem.
SCALEUP phase 1 of initiative development is foreseen to run until January 2022, and phase 2 of initiative implementation is planned to take place over the next 12 months.
