On the 10th to 11th of May, representatives from six different countries met in Sweden to discuss how they can increase integration of renewable energy into buildings. The aim for all the attending project partners is to integrate energy production in buildings in their different regions.
In the meeting, lectures, study visits and a dissemination event were organized by the Energy Agency of Southeast Sweden. Stakeholders and project partners from six European countries (Spain, Italy, Malta, Romania, Poland and Sweden) participated in the meeting. During the second day of the meeting, there was a solar cell seminar. The seminar included lectures about solar trends globally and national, markets, solar energy in buildings and a study visit to a solar park on the roofs of a retirement home. More than 110 stakeholders representing regional level, municipalities, companies and property owners attended to the education.
During the meeting, there was also lectures about the concept Cradle Two Cradle for Energy in Buildings and about monitoring and management for energy efficiency in buildings. The meeting included different study visits, to a bioenergy-driven power plant, to a private house with geothermal heating and electricity from solar cell. The owner of the private house had invested in batteries for storage of the self-produced solar electricity.
"We hope more property owners will be interested in investing in energy production for their own buildings. Through the exchange of experience with other countries, we can discuss what we can do at a regional level to facilitate investments in renewable energy, such as solar cells", says project manager Katrine Svensson.
The meeting is a part of the EU funded project ENERSELVES, which is an interregional project with the aim to improve low-carbon economy policies in the different regions. ENERSELVES project is co-financed by the European Union, through ERDF funds from Interreg Europe program.
