It has been already a month since we gathered online for LCA4Regions' third TLJ, that took us to Satakunta in Finland.
Partners will for sure not forget this exchange of experience on LCA for waste management and material flows. Each of the three sessions (LCA for sustainable regional development; LCA good practices on waste management and material flows; case studies from Finland focused on waste management and nutrient recycling and peer review) provided interesting examples and food for thought.
Discussions and presentations of good practices brought on partners' path two essential tools with a high potential to reach the project’s objectives: material flow analysis and social life cycle assessment.
There is also a lot of questioning about how LCA leads to better policies. To complement the first answers profiled during the TLJ, recent work from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre shows the extent to which LCA already underpins EU policies on sustainability, including resource efficiency, climate, the Green Deal etc.
The next TLJ, schedule in spring 2021, will take us to Slovenia, hosted by the National Institute of Chemistry, and will focus on the exchange of experience on LCA in public procurement.
Before that, have a look at the Transnational Learning Document #3 for a complete summary of the TLJ and more details on the lessons learnt. While you are there, why not refresh your mind with the previous TLJ, in Navarre? The Transnational Learning Document #2 is also available!
