Two LCA4Regions partners, namely ACR+ and AIN, will cooperate in another project, aside from LCA4Regions.
This project, entitled FoodRUs, was launched at the end of November. It aims to limit food losses and waste, and to promote resource efficiency across all stages of the agri-food value chain. The three-and -a-half-year-long project, coordinated by the University of Deusto, comprises 29 partners from 10 European countries and will involve 40 stakeholders.
AIN is coordinating the implementation of one of the three pilots of the project, focused on vegetables and prepared salads. Through several activities, the cross-regional Spanish pilot will work identifying which are the real causes food losses and food waste generation and how to include data gathering and management along the value chain, from crop to final consumers and municipal management systems, that will drive to its digitalisation and the testing of other technical and social strategies. The other two pilots will be implemented in Denmark, focusing on meat and fish, and in Slovakia, analysing the bread value chain.
In order to promote the replicability of the tested solutions, FoodRUs will prepare best practice toolkits and involve six regions as “Followers”. ACR+ will be leading the work related to the cooperation with other projects and its replicability in other territories.
