The implementation of the action plan within the framework of the Interreg Europe LCA4Regions project in Slovenia includes, in addition to activities in the field of training and capacity building (where it concerns the implementation of training and the introduction of LCA methodologies in the field of the circular economy), the introduction of the life-cycle costing (LCC) calculator into the Slovenian legislation.
As planned in the action plan for the cohesion region of Western Slovenia, in the period August 2022 - March 2023, colleagues at the National Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana held several meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy of the Republic of Slovenia, on the basis of which we determined at the end of November 2022 that in the Decree on Green Public Procurement, we include the LCC calculator for the purchase of computers and monitors, the use of which was otherwise approved by the European Commission.
Accordingly, we prepared the Slovenian version of the user manual and the LCC calculator in the Excel environment. At the end of March 2023, we submitted the material prepared in this way to the representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy of the Republic of Slovenia, who, together with other government bodies, will take care of its placement in the above-mentioned Decree on Green Public Procurement.
The LCC calculator in question will help both contracting authorities and computer equipment providers in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of public procurement, and will undoubtedly contribute to the more frequent use of LCA methodologies in public procurement and, in general, to more efficient use of resources and the sustainable development of Slovenia.
