Yesterday 21 November 2019, the first regional dissemination event was organised in Satakunta. The aim was to introduce the LCA4Regions project to a wider audience and especially catch the interest of potential stakeholders for the theme. Discussion was held to introduce the first practical cooperation part with the stakeholders.
The event started with the welcoming words by the executive director of Pyhäjärvi Institute Teija Kirkkala. She set the scope of the project in context with the regional policy of Satakunta and the themes of Pyhäjärvi Institute.
Project manager Pekka Maijala continued by describing the project, and included briefly information about the Interreg Europe Programme, as the current project is the first Interreg Europe project focused for Satakunta region. Stakeholders were encouraged to actively join the project.
Two experts, Kirsi Usva, from Natural Resources Institute Finland, and Aleksis Klap, Regional Council of Southwest Finland, gave presentations on the general principles and use of LCA, as well as specific aspects of LCA on land use planning. After presentations, a lively discussion was held about the practical steps forward to start working with stakeholders.
