In early march 2020, POTEnT had a great regional launch in Milton Keynes during the 2020 Sustainability Conference.

Almost 100 people gathered at Milton Keynes Gallery to have an overview of actions delivered by Milton Keynes Council to meet carbon reduction targets and and discuss how to work together to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels.

The conference was opened by Peter Marland, Leader of Milton Keynes Council, who delivered an overview of how the Council will work in partnerships to meet the ambitious targets for reducing carbon emissions. Milton Keynes Council has declared a climate emergency and aims to be carbon neutral by 2030 and carbon negative by 2050

The conference heard from eight speakers who provided details of the ongoing actions in Milton Keynes projects to reduce carbon emissions and encourage biodiversity. The presentations were from local experts, project delivery partners and Milton Keynes Council heads of service. The presenters gave an insight into how sustainability has been integrated in most MKC policies. Milton Keynes Council also presented the new stategy to 2050 and the forthcoming MKC Sustainability Action Plan.

The Conference also had a preview of the new e-cargo bikes that will soon be seen around Milton Keynes.

This was a high profile launch for our POTEnT project and a broad dissemination of the steps being taken towards a more sustainable Milton Keynes up to 2050.
