In its role as Advisory partner, ACR+ organised a capacity-building event for the entire WINPOL partnership on 19 February 2019 in Brussels.
The event was attended by some thirty participants - technicians from the project partnership and a Policy Officer from Interreg Europe. It aimed to train the attendees in the use of knowledge and tools developed in the framework of other EU-funded projects, focusing on three core themes:
- Operational instruments and monitoring: highlighting the importance of consistent methodology and data comparison for improving performances, as exemplified by the projects Regions for Recycling (R4R) and COLLECTORS
- Strategy and planning: focusing on public procurement for innovation and Information and Communication Technology tools as addressed by the PPI4Waste and Waste4Think projects
- Awareness-raising, communication and best practices: presenting the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), which is the biggest awareness-raising campaign on the 3R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), and the Circular Europe Network (CEN) initiative launched by ACR+ to support the transition of local and regional authorities to a circular economy on their territories.
The capacity-building session included presentations, live demonstrations and discussions in small groups to help the partners in understanding and learning the information more easily. As an outcome of the day, the WINPOL partners are well equipped to implement and use the presented tools in their daily work.
