The impact of the project at local level is already visible as stakeholders expressed their willingness to collaborate on new initiatives.
With most of the good practices already identified, partners are already thinking of the changes that they could bring to their local policies to improve their waste management system and increase their performances towards higher sustainability. Slowly the first lines of action plans, to be implemented in 2021, are drawn. Which practices caught the attention of each project partner? Which changes are currently being assessed? What is the current impact of WINPOL at local level?

ERA came back from the visits to Imola and Antwerp with some ideas that could be implemented and are now being analysed. These include for example:
- Innovative waste collection systems (e.g. Smart collection trucks using GIS technology);
- Educational campaigns and activities (e.g. creating APPs for the locals to understand the concepts of waste management or report irregularities);
- Centralising waste information systems.
The impact of the project at local level is already visible as stakeholders from various sectors (waste management, technology and innovation) expressed their willingness to collaborate on new initiatives. WINPOL contributes to raising awareness on two fronts:
- Existing innovative technologies;
- Various other types of technologies available on the market which can help tackle such issues.
It is also expected that the lessons learnt during WINPOL will be considered in the drafting of any relevant innovative measures to be included in the new Waste Management Plan for 2020-2030.
