The summer and the releasing of stricter COVID-19 related restrictions across Europe brought new energy or rather new opportunities for WINPOL partners to be active at local level.
The project was promoted during related events both in Slovenia and in Greece. In Maribor, Snaga attended the traditional event of cleaning the water of river Drava that took place on the International Environment Day. More than 150 visitors got to know more about WINPOL! A couple of months later, it is to an audience of professionals of the green sector that Snaga pitched the installation of underground waste containers that is part of its Action Plan. In Heraklion, it is during a composter distribution that WINPOL was highlighted. This action was part of the A2UFood project which proposes a holistic management scheme in which all aspects of reduction, reuse, and recycling of food waste are included.
ERA organised an online event on 01 September during which a number of Maltese SMEs were invited to discuss current technologies and systems within the waste sector. These participants were also invited to identify key technologies, worth capitalising, that can assist in improving waste management policies in Malta.
Fruitful meetings took place too in Gijón and Crete too. EMULSA on the one hand and the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Heraklion succeeded to gather their stakeholders to discuss their upcoming Action Plans and the conclusion of the first phase.
Last but not least, the cherry on the cake is the article dedicated to the upcoming underground waste collection system in Maribor that has been published by the Slovenian magazine Embalaža Okolje Logistika. Have a look at it (if you speak Slovenian!).
